Bob Kendrick

by Stephen Agar

Diplomacy players in the United Kingdom and around the world were saddened to hear of the death of Bob Kendrick in February 1997 after a long illness.

The measure of Bob’s stature as a Diplomacy player was marked by his two UK National Diplomacy Championship victories, in 1988 and 1994, as well as by many other tournament victories.

As a regular visitor to Diplomacy tournaments overseas, Bob made a host of friends in all the major Diplomacy-playing countries.

Bob was also a very successful postal Diplomacy player with a string of victories stretching back over 20 years.

Bob told some of us in November 1995 that he had been diagnosed as having liver cancer and given less than a year to live. We were delighted that, in the event, he was well enough to join us again at MidCon in November 1996 and play once more in the National Diplomacy Championship. We are sad that he has been denied the chance to add further to his wealth of titles.
